Jensen, our Norwegian brand, was recently awarded the “Swan Award 2024” by the Nordic Swan Label. The Nordic Swan label is the official ecolabel of Nordic countries and has a vision to create a more sustainable society. The award is a testament to the important and hard work that the Jensen team puts in ensuring that all Jensen products represent a sound choice for social, economic and environmental sustainability.

In a statement to Nordic Swan, Jan Trygve Jensen, the Managing Director of Jensen said:

“At Jensen, we have been making high-quality beds with a low environmental impact for decades. The Swan label is a recognized eco-label with a high level of trust, and the fact that our products have been awarded the label provides reassurance for both people and the environment. This is important to us. We are therefore delighted to receive the Swan Award 2024,”

The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is among the world’s most stringent in limiting chemicals harmful to people and the environment. Jensen’s beds first earned the label in 2006, and they’ve continuously refined their products and production processes to maintain it ever since. Today, nearly 200 Jensen products are Swan labelled – making it the bedding brand with the largest collection of Swan labelled products in the world.

To earn the label, a bed must meet strict requirements at every stage of its life cycle—covering materials, production methods, suppliers, product quality, and recyclability.

Sustainability is a broad concept, and the team in Svelvik—along with the wider Hilding Anders Group—has worked extensively during recent years to adopt even more sustainable and circular business practices.

The team in Svelvik are, amongst other things, focusing on Eco-friendly fabrics, zero use of hazardous chemicals, certified and sustainable wood, reducing waste and recycling more. For example, more components of a Jensen bed can now be replaced than ever before, making it easier to repair rather than replace the entire bed. In production, they also re-use materials to a higher degree than ever. For example, 30 percent of the steel in their springs has been recycled.
